Man On The Moon
it's way past midnight, and i've been totally obsessed and fantasizing that i'm Vance in the virtual fantasy world of grand theft auto vice city again.i lost my appetite, lack of sleep and perform poorly at work and i lost weight-i am 70kilos again.
yes i'm a badass,going around town,protectin' my turf,the empire of prostitution,smuggling,robbery,drugs,yeah drugs-cocaine,all in the 80s mode once again.rival gangs were beaten,i'm always out on a killing spree,earning my own rights and r.e.s.p.e.c.t.
ohh c'mon,it's just a game.a violent addictive game, just like cocaine.and i've actually 'kicked' that habit for about 2months back, but it i got my 'high' back days back when i started 'picking' it up again, after i've completed reading a book entitled 'Gangs' by Tony Thompson.
the scary part is that,it's all about drugs.
yesterday,i watched American Gangster on the net with my sis,who snored halfway, leaving me alone totally glued to the movie, which was in the late 1960s settings, about an african american man named Frank(Denzel Washington),who with the help of his cousin who was serving the army and was stationed somewhere in Bangkok, smuggled drugs, directly without any middlemen, hauling pure grade 4 heroin, back to the States and selling it to the streets with his family members and relatives contributing and distributing those drugs which they branded as Blue Magic.now he got game.his business flourished, and as time past,he eventually made lotsa enemies, including some crooked cops as well.
but not all cops are crooked and no i ain't gonna tell you anymore info about the movie no more.what i can say is that the movie super good.
but its all pretty connected, coincidentally linked.the game that i'm playin, the book that i read and that movie too.and like i said above, its pretty scary.the world is made up of junkies, who in turn, change everything into a very violent world.
the book that i read, the author actually did real scary research, from kingston to amsterdam and not only drugs that made this world goes round but gangs.and in his meticulous yet dangerous search,i learnt that,it's not the italian mafiosos that we should worry about,it's the albanians who had chain of prostitution rings in europe, the dreadlocked yardies who stubbornly smuggled pile-high cocaine from jamaica to britain, gun totting pakistanis and turkish teenagers killing each other in bradford and birmingham to monopolise the heroin trade, chinese triads human smugglers, nigerian high-end electronic fraudsters swindling millions from businessmen around the world,Dr Alexander Shulgin's psychedelic trip experiments in mid 70s that change the whole world today into Class A addicts-ecstasy.
bolivia's coca plantations, afghanistan poppy plants and the golden triangle in south-east asia,i'm pretty sure it's all not only gangs involved here, shady shadowy political conspiracy,it's not easy to track em' but believe me,somebody pulling the strings.
Coca-cola was introduced in 1886,as a valuable brain tonic and cure for all nervous afflictions.promoted as a temperance drink 'offering the virtues of coca without the vices of alcohol.'the new beverage was invigorating and popular at that time until 1903,a typical serving contained around 60 miligrams of cocaine!all traces of the drug have long since been removed.
and so is the author of the classic The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde-he wrote the story on a week long cocaine binge.
and crack-cocaine is far deadlier,so don't even dare imagine.
and just for the records,a big,big no,i'm not into drugs.
i'm just as curious and with a sound mind i do know.
i'm just into Grand Theft Auto Vice City.
i'm Vance.
stay away!
