Like A Prayer-Madonna

been days now that Muslims all around the world observe the obligatory fast, during this holy month of Ramadan.and it's not only abstaining from consuming food and drinks during the day of fast-which is from dawn to dusk, but it's also refraining from 'unhealthy' acts like smoking or sexual practices.a Muslim is encouraged to spend more time in devotion to God during Ramadan,to abandon 'earthly materials' like comfort & possesions,to feel oneself and experience how a poor, unfortunate person without food and home would feel.it's also a month of charity and sharing food to break the fast together.

the first couple of days of fast, there was this throbbing stinging sharp pain on my left portion of the head;especially on my left eye-i don't really wanna think that was a migraine, but the pain was terrible.i wasn't really focused, even when i shut my eye i could feel the rhythm of the tribal beat.so that was the initial start,i guessed my body didn't have adequate water or probably not enough rest ever since the round island cycling-but today,Alhamdulillah, the pain is gone, and once again i am able to think and perform my daily routine in perfect health.

i won't feel hungry during fasting, its only the thirst, and controlling thirst is not as easy as controlling temper coz some people and their actions really just get me over the edge, and yes that's fast is all about-to control oneself.calm and collected-cool like a cucumber and draw closer to God-it's a shield to protect us from comitting sins and also to practise a good habit of doing good things, not only in this month, but in one's lifetime.

Happy Fasting Brothers & Sisters!
