Insane In The Brain

OOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhYeAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Ladies & Gentlemen,presentin'...Powell Peralta's Classic-Steve Caballero Dragon & Bats!!!!!!!!!!

POWER!!!

very the Ol' Skool!Probably in the late 80s or early 90's edition.yeah!and it landed into my arms...or should i say feet?

story goes like this-saw this deck outside my home the other day as i was tying my shoelace, wasn't really paying attention, but the slow thought struck me that no other than me who love skates coz' my lil bro dig bmx.took a second glance before i stagger, saw a bright yellow words across the deck-CABALLERO,with a green dragon posing below..OHMIGOD!i couldn't believe my eyes, but i was really late,so i left in a hurry.was so busy with work till the day before i asked my bro via sms, whose deck was it?in a split second he replied,it was his and he found it.he also added,i could have it.without hesitation,i responded, asking him to bring along to work the next day,and to cut story short,i got it.

it wasn't really in a bad condition, though there are chipped parts at the nose and rear, the dumb previous owner have left some spray marks, marker paints on both side of the wood, and initials on the trucks.soon after i've done all my work earlier(had a crazy day under the scorching sun)i met up with muradikal, and we slowly disassembled all parts, did a major cleanup, tore up the worn out grip tape, sandpapered the edges and greased up the bearings.the front wheels were vision and the back were bones hooked on tracker truck while the other gull wing, complete with side rails.and once completed,i was smiling cheek to cheek.

i have no intention to skate it,but to keep it,put it on display or something.it's a shame, that it's discarded, good thang my bro rescued it or i won't be madly drooling over it right now.

this brings back the fond teen memories.the reminiscence.of a schoolboy way back, dreamin' of gleamin' the cube.my first deck was a chris miller, bought second-hand from a senior dude.

since then,to school and back,on skates in my yellow converse, school disallowed, stashed both sneakers and board in rubbish bag,hid it in the bush, and crept back to recover it at the end of school day, every day.same routine, never got caught.and made lotsa cool skate friends as well.back then,if the pigs rolled by as u skate, they gave chase, still i don't understand why.

as time past, many of em' stopped skatin',some got married, some picked up drugs and ended up in rehabs, some totally lost and some just too ignorant to pass the sport as 'child stuff.'

it's the feel.music plugged into ears, ridin' on the board, the vibratin' & pulsatin' rhythm of the wheels, the thrillin' part is when you try to defy gravity and you fall but you never break any bones-now that's an adventure.

whatever it is,i'm still livin' it up.

thanx amir for the dragon & bats!
